Everett Lee McCormick, 83, Robinson, Illinois passed away at 9:07 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at his residence. Born May 5, 1929, in Crawford County, Illinois he was the son of Cecil McCormick & May (Robinson) McCormick. Everett entered into Basic Training, Ft. Bragg, N.C. 1946; Korea 1947 with the 27th Special Service Co. 24th Corp; 1948 -1949, 6915 ASV Western CML CTR Toole VTOK Dugway Proving Grounds; 1950 – 1952, 304th Signal Operations BN 9th Army Korea & Japan; 1952 – 1953, 199th Engineer Combat Battalion, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, 322 ENG Combat Group; 1954 – 1956, 21st Transportation Battalion Port Command Pussan Korea; 1956 – 1958, Co C 1st MTB 1st CAV 1st Armor Div Ft. Polk, LA; 1958 – 1959, Ft. Hood, TX; 1960 – 1963, Troop B 1st Recon Squadron 11th Arm CAV, Germany; 1963 – Retirement, 1st Battalion 63rd Armor Big Red One, Everett retired after 20 years from the United States Army in 1966. He then worked at Victor Dana, Robinson, Illinois; in Daytona Beach managed a couple of motel’s plus various other jobs through the years. He was a member of the Prior Grove Baptist Church, rural Oblong, Illinois; Robinson American Legion Post then transferred to the Oblong American Legion Post #219. Everett loved to cook and work in the garden. He enjoyed life, his friends and especially his family.
On October 2, 1968, he married Vera Imogene Tracy, who preceded him in death on February 20, 2006. On December 23, 2006, he married Betty M. Jenkins Siverly, who survives. Also surviving are three sons and daughter-in-law, Gary Woolverton, Rick & Beverly Woolverton and Myron Woolverton; two daughters, Gloria Rowquillo and Patrica Ogalsbee; three step-daughters, Janice Robinson, Jane Lewis and Terry & Daryl Fisher; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Terry Rutherford; a half-brother, Bobby McCormick and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Everett in death were his parents; wife; one brother, Rex McCormick; one daughter, Mary Stewart; half sister, Shirley Tracy; step-son Steve Woolverton and a granddaughter, Lacey Woolverton.
Bro. Jeff Monroney will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Prior Grove Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois.
